Rectal bleeding

Post by Ian B on Sat Apr 25, 2009 8:20 am

Hi All,

I've just noticed a bit of blood on Bola rectum, not a lot, it barely stained a tissue when I wiped it, but it's there. I've never seen this before and beyond the obvious constipation/straining or worms, is there anything else I should be comcerned about? He's fine in himself, is eating as usual and from what I've seen he's emptying his bowels, tho' I don't stand and watch to see if he's struggling Laughing

'EDIT'

I've just checked and there's no more blood, hopefully it was just a one off thing.

Ian

Hopefully a one-off Ian, but I would take him to the vet if you notice it again definately, as like in humans, it must be checked out.

He'll be off to the vets if I see it again that's for sure. I googled it but there were a lot of scare stories so I didn't look that far, tho' to be fair, most of them were about prolonged/serious bleeding.

I know what you mean. Some times its best not to read too much. You end up thinking worst case scenario! It gets silly.

Could have been a sharp blade of grass had knicked his bum on the way out? As Nicki says tho, if it happens again best check it out with the vet to be on the safe side. The internet can be very scarey, it seems like you just need to type in symptoms (any symtoms) and then just wait for something unspeakably horrible to flash up! lol

Yes, constipation could very well be the cause... please try not to worry too much. Chnaces are it's just a one off, but best to keep a close eye on it.

Pok has had it once or twice, due to constipation. BG has never had it, but then again she's only been consitpated once, as her tummy is generally a tiny bit dodgy.

And grass too could be a reason... once BG had a massive huge blade of some weed sticking out of her bum... ROFL! Guess whom got the lovely job of pullng it out?
