Frozen cat flap
Jeeeeez, it must have been cold overnight
I noticed Jimmy having trouble getting thro' the flap, and when I checked I found the bristles round the edge to keep the draughts out had frozen to the frame so it wouldn't open or close. If I'm right about the spraying black tom calling in the early hours, it's a good job it didn't freeze after he came in, it would have been carnage as all mine are scared of him, particularly GT.
I've never heard of a flap freezing like that before, so I may get some vaseline while I'm out today and hope it keeps the bristles frost free in future.
'EDIT'
There was a build up of ice on the bristles, so I suspect the black tom had sprayed on the flap and it had frozen.

Re: Frozen cat flap
Was it yellow? I've never heard of that either, which suggests it must have been wet to start with.

Oh class, I was telling Steve and he 's never heard of that either, so we reckon the black one has left his calling card.

I'm just glad they didn't know they could have thawed the flap out by peeing on it themselves

Re: Frozen cat flap
Besides being peed on, I don't know what else they've done to the flap but it won't shut properly now I've either got a gale blowing into the kitchen or the sound of the flap banging against the frame If I can't fix it, it's a good job I bought two

Re: Frozen cat flap
The magnet in the frame had come loose, so it *should* have been an easy fix..................but it hasn't turned out that way Everything is now back in place but the bloody thing still won't shut properly...............and I can't for the life of me see whyIan B wrote:Besides being peed on, I don't know what else they've done to the flap but it won't shut properly now I've either got a gale blowing into the kitchen or the sound of the flap banging against the frame If I can't fix it, it's a good job I bought two
