Where the vet shaved her fur off when she was spayed it's taken so long to start growing back but now that it is it's growing back red not a bright red but def red, it's the sort of red you see on black cats when they are laying in the sun but with saffy it's red all the time even when she is inside and there is no sun.

Has this happened to anyone else's cat or should I be worried?

I've never seen this Nicola, but I wouldn't be too worried about it, it may change back through regrowth over time. If she seems fine than I would leave it, but if you're at the vets with the kittens mention it to them.

As long as the wound is nicely healed, and isn't sore, then I wouldn't worry about it. I know cat fur can take as long as 6 months to grow back, and I'm pretty certain that come wintertime and Saffy is ready for her winter coat, it will be back to normal.

That's perfectly normal, Nic. My mum's Birman had a light brown patch on her cream fur where she's been shaved but when the fur was full length it wasn't that noticable, it's still there but can barely been seen. It's doesn't look the prettiest but it doesn't harm them in anyway.

Awww bless her! A reddy patch can only be becoming on her, I love that reddy, chocolately sun black cat colour. As PokBg said, I'm sure once her winter coat comes in, it won't be noticeable and if it is, she'll have a unique patch!
