One of them caught a.........
..........blackbird yesterday, and it was a fair size I say it was a blackbird, I can't be 100% as it was more than a bit mangled by the time I found it, so I'm mainly going off the colour of it's beak in identifying it.
It was big enough to have put up a decent fight so the first thing I did wanted to do check my lot for injuries, or I would have done if they hadn't sulked when I moved it I ended up having to put the body in a plastic bag then into my wheelie bin to keep them away from it. I'm just grateful they didn't bring it into the house, tho' they perhaps tried and it was too big to carry thro' the flap.

Crikey!!! Blessed big birdie - and well done to whomever manged to get the prize trophy!
BG nearly caught a starling today. I think it is the "baby" (not a baby anymore) of the mother that used to steal the dry cat food outside to give her babies, as this one was a LOT less smart then the female that used to come here. It was pecking at some food I'd left for the birdies on top of the old shed... and BG was there making a heck of a racket... and still the bird didn't move. BG leaped, I ran for it, birdie got lucky and flew away, and BG had a massive heap of feathers in her paw.

Yeah, I was surprised to see it was a blackbird but the size told me it wasn't a sparrow I was even more surprised to find they suffer a lot of casualties due to predation by cats, I would have thought they'd be just too big for a cat to actually kill.
