Bully (now with box pic)
It looks like Donna was right when she told me Buddy has a nasty side.............
Bola had been asleep on my recliner since just after lunch, then Buddy strolled in at 4pm, jumped onto the other chair but that wasn't comfy enough, hopped across to the recliner and promptly sank his teeth into Bolas neck I wasn't bothered as I just expected a bit of rough and tumble, but ears back and wild eyed he meant it and it wasn't long before Bola was yelping, and even tho' he's twice the size, he gave up, jumped down and went to sleep on the carpet.
I've been wondering why Fudge all but refuses to come into the house during the day for a couple of days now, she comes in to eat then leaves and will only stay in at night, on the living room windowsill when the curtains are drawn. Perhaps even she's a bit scared of Buddy, but either way, I'm going to have to keep a close eye on this, if he is starting to bully he won't be welcome anymore.

If it's in him he'll always be like that, ok he can be *trained* to be fine around humans, but a cat's a cat and I think this is something that won't go away.

I just think it's something inbred, and no amount of handling etc makes much difference as it's his own species that he's wanting to be kingpin to. Little sod.

Re: Bully (now with box pic)
Hopefully he'll calm down a bit once he's neutered, tho' I can't see what the hold up is is, he's old enough now. It could be that he's just like Bola, who's always gone that bit too far when playing rough, tho' it looks like he may have met his match in Buddy.
If it is a dominance thing, he won't be allowed to get away with it here, I'll make *sure* of that, even if it means shooing him away and not letting him in. He can do what he wants outside, I couldn't stop him, but I can inside. They've just had a mad 10 minutes with lots of scratching and yowling after a chase, but from what I could see it was good natured even if it seemed not to be. They're sat together in the hall atm, both with a butter wouldn't melt look on their faces
Donna did tell me he was a sod with his 3 litter mates, so it appears it it *in him* to be aggressive.

Re: Bully (now with box pic)
Jeez, he's got it on him today Besides tearing round the house even faster than Bola or Beckett ever did as kittens, he's had a go (playfighting) at Bola, Dexter and Max, who had to *warn* him off with a serious hissy-fit. He's just being uber boisterous atm, there's no malice, but he's a real handful in this sort of mood.

Re: Bully (now with box pic)
In a futile attempt to keep him occupied I dug out an old toy, the sort on a spring with a sucker at the other end, and stuck it up at the bottom of the stairs.................it stayed there less than 20 seconds before he'd ripped it off and was chewing the spring like he was trying to kill it ................I had to take it off him in case he damaged his teeth

I locked him out while I did a bit of shopping, left him haring ground the garden in the pouring rain, not even trying to shelter. I got back 45 minutes later and he's still at it, totally soaked but still having the time of his life

Re: Bully (now with box pic)
I saw him sat side by side on a fence with *stripey tailed tom* earlier, and as both are unneutered and were so friendly, I'm wondering if perhaps they *know* each other and both belong to Donna?

Re: Bully (now with box pic)
He's been as hyper, if not more so, today
The only good thing is he's met his match in Max, who *wasn't* interested in playing let alone wrestling............... and let Buddy know Max isn't a fighter by any means, but when he's pushed has got a shorter temper than Fudge

Re: Bully (now with box pic)
Fudge and Bola are asleep on my bed, and were eventually joined by Buddy, but not before he'd gone balistic trying to shred my duvet from under the bed
Bola used to enjoy lying on his back and pulling himself along, but this little sod seemed intent on ripping it apart, it's a good job I was there to keep an eye on him...............and thank God it wasn't a chair or the sofa.
Even when he took a breather he was tormenting Bola, who was less than impressed. All in all, it must have been 20+ madcat minutes before he was tired enough to want a nap.
He's just got up and gone out, and I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't relieved, he's got energy to spare, I really wish he'd use it up outside

Re: Bully (now with box pic)
He's sprawled out on my recliner atm, looking for all the world like the cutest kitten ever, but I know different. Both Beckett and Bola were energetic at his age, but neither were as out and out naughty, nor did they veer between being almost comatose to being like a miniature lion with a raging toothache

Psycho kitten!!!!!
Neil and I were shocked at just how lively Merlin and Tabitha were as kittens and I vowed then to only rescue nice sensible calm oldies in future Thankfully Merlin IS calming down now as he burns all his energy off outside

Re: Bully (now with box pic)
Hi Gilly,
He's a bundle of energy that's for sure, that's the best thing about kittens, but some, like Buddy, go that little too far at times. He's only being boisterous, but as he gets bigger he can physically back his attitude up, and now thinks nothing of pouncing on any nearby cat *demanding* they play with him
I can only guess how wild he'd be if he was feral

For an hour this afternoon he was like the feline equivalent of a tsunami, he was everywhere, scratching and wanting to playfight (with anything that moved) I had a job keeping up with him and sitting down was out of the question

Re: Bully (now with box pic)
The second part of my PAH order arrived today and Buddy has just discovered the sheer joy a cardboard box can bring. It's half full of shredded carboard packing which has only doubled his pleasure, he's spent the past couple of hours going berserk in this box.
Even Dexter appearing wanting a playfight couldn't tempt him out

Buddy rediscovered the box at 2am last night, even better for him, Jimmy was asleep in it at the time 20 minutes of chaos, yowling and general mischief making later, it all went quiet again

He took both Bola and Dexter on earlier last night when he *demanded* a playfight and didn't care if it was two onto one. The pair of them were baffled at how aggressive he wasTeddy wrote:B hell, pandomonium rules once again at Ian's.
