Day 1..............

...................of sophie's *light* dry food diet, if this doesn't work, well .....................................tough. I have noticed though that she's not as active as she used to be, she's fast approaching 4 years old although still young, she has settled down somewhat and has lost that kitten mischievous way. So if she continues this lazier approach to life I reckon the diet will be a waste of time. Get off that table Sophie and MOVE.

Day 10...............she still hasn't moved

hahahaha exactly, she moves to the bowl of food and back onto the table again, that's it.

She had finished her quota for the day at 4.30 this afternoon. Now I know she will need more before bedtime, maybe they work by starvingg them, nothing to do with being *light* they just aren't getting enough.

She'll get used to it Kath, if she doesn't succeed in grinding you down first that is

She's finished her lot for this morning, so when she comes back I'll re-fill her dish. I think there must be an additive in this she's addicted.

All this is so familiar, except that Bonnie cannot do, or can only do with difficulty, dry food. I recognise the lack of exercise scenario though. Bonnie sleeps and eats. She waddles from the sofa to her bowl and back, from the bed to the bowl and back, from her feeding station to Malo's feeding station ... and back. No wonder she is not loosing any weight.

I've been reading about diets and it says to encourage exercise by playing with them, ( tell us something we didn't know), the best toy is the fishing rod style, but if Bonnie is like Sophie, she'll jump at it a couple of times and then wander off. I think we're on a hiding to nothing here.

Bonnie isn't too keen on the fishing rod, but does chase a pink pingpong ball around, if she/we can find it. In fact we have three of them in total but they are all somewhere hidden deep under the furniture. One game Bonnie does enjoy, and we try to do it daily, is to chase the torch light. This can last a short time, but Bonnie is quite readily distracted and then loses interest. She has even gone off her wind up ladybird - that she used to adore. She will play endlessly with her catnip pouch, but that doesn't involve too much energy, just rubbing and licking and purring. Good job it isn't Malo who has a weight problem as he is just not interested in toys. He is, however, very energetic and uses up all his energy climbing and exploring and fighting.

Oh that is such a pain when all the toys disappear under the chairs, sofa, usually we leave them for weeks until we get a pang of guilt and then move them all to get the toys back. Only Teddy would play with the torch light, my other two weren't interested. I suppose I shouldn't complain too much at least Sophie does go out, now whether she's being energetic is debatable at the moment.
