Yes we all know it's a natural instinct but what do you do when your cat takes home an injured bird? I got Sophie to drop a little robim and was able to pick him up, he had blood around his mouth and his little heart was hammering, I put her and Moto indoors and put the bird in a *safe* place, but he fluttered away and rested beside the shrubs, when I went to get him away from there he again fluttered away but I don't know where he went. The cats are still in, just incase robin in still in the garden. But I really don't know what's best , I couldn't let sophie terrorise him or begin to eat him, aaaaahhh it's such a dilemma. No

Hmmm, I've only caught one of my lot with a still living catch once and I did much the same as you. There isn't really much else you can do other than hope they'll recover enough to fly away.

It may well be a fruitless hope though, but I get so annoyed when people say *put them out of their misery**, maybe we should but I know I just couldn't kill them, oh I feel all cold just thinking that. My mother told me that, and when I asked her if she could do she said no Rolling Eyes so I told her to be quiet then.
My two are still kept inside, how long does a bird need to recover. Laughing

Well I looked around the garden 2-3 times and couldn't find the wee robin, so I think he may have got his second wind and flown away, sure hope so, he was so little and bonny. Sophie got a talking to and then sulked for a while, she's friends with me again though. What do you do? 43453

The robin will now be bragging about how he beat up a cat Laughing

We only had one that was injured but we released it and hoped it would recover. I couldn't kill it so we did what we thought best.

She's on a killing mission, the little What do you do? 265331 Steve drove away today and on the driveway was a dead robin, not the same one I rescued as this one was a lot bigger, but it seems as though it's the robins she's going for this year. This morning she didn't eat breakfast , just took off and I haven't seen her since, I have a bad feeling..................

EDIT: she's back, empty handed, thank goodness and grumbling and being nippy, it's going to be a long day. Rolling Eyes

It'll seem a longer one for any robins nearby today Kath Laughing

I've only once seen Fudge with a bird she'd caught and that was so scrawny a worm could have fought if off Laughing

Oh I'd rather Sophie was like Fudge. I've just seen a robin on the wall of the garden, so I presume there is a nest very close by, luckily, Sophie didn't spot it, so it lives for an other day, well maybe half a day, an hour? she's just wandered off. Rolling Eyes
