suspected poisoning
I have a friend that had to rush one of her cats to the vet last night with suspected poisoning (not sure if it antifreeze yet). He has been on a drip most of the night to flush out any poison and has been to the toilet this morning, but not eaten. She took him in as soon as she saw him being sick and letargic. Hoping that there is no lasting damage to his kidney's. Just waiting for more news, but what will the effects of recovery be for him?
Hoping he's going to pull through alright.

Re: suspected poisoning
Sorry to hear this Lynne, after going thro' it with Beckett I know just how much of a nightmare it is.
Did the vets not suggest diluting it with neat alcohol? My vet told me it was the best thing for treating antifreeze poisoning, but they had to be 100% sure it was that before using alcohol.
Hopefully they got there in time as antifreeze needs to be treated within hours of a cat ingesting it to avoid kidney damage. All your friend can do is be guided by the vets, but here's some good luck vibes heading his way.

Re: suspected poisoning
Must be awful for them - I do hope it is caught in time and that the poor little thing recovers. Fingers crossed from me and paws crossed from Bonnie and Malo.

Re: suspected poisoning
Good news.
He's home and eating ok. Everything seems to be ok, his kidney levels back to normal, has to go back for check ups though.
What a relief.

Great news Lynn
I wouldn't wish what Beckett went thro' on any animal, bar the who poisoned him.
