Fudge
I've been reading about elderly cats, a friend on FB has been having a problem with his cat, so as I was reading about them, I found out 1 in 4 cats will have some age generated health problem, fair enough, one of these can be dementia. Now it was saying that some cats will do really unexplainable things, like sitting outside all night in the pouring rain, totally unaware that they are soaked through, well obviously Fudge came to mind. Another is wanting to be secure and to have their owner close at hand. Really interesting read, one thing that my friends cat was doing was howling during the night, and that can be a sign of hyperthyroidism, so off he went the the vet to get her checked, cost him $275 and she doesn't have it wish I'd kept my mouth shut now, although she is getting more tests. Now there was really no point to this thread but just thought I'd share.

Re: Fudge
Hi Kath,
Fudge sitting outside in the rain isn't a new thing, she's always had bouts of doing things I consider stupid, but she's happy enough so fair play to her. I doubt it's a sign of age related illness tho' as she's getting on a bit now I fear this is yet to come.
Here she is curled up on the landing windowsill atm, with a net curtain as a shawl
Hope your friends cat gets better news at the vets.

Aaaww that's a gorgeous photo, must be one of the best, although she always takes a good pic. Well last night he was kept awake all night because of his cats howling so at the moment he's feeling no lurve towards her.

Re: Fudge
Thanks Kath it's my new fav pic of her
The mark on her nose? I've no idea, it's been like that for a long, long time now. I was worried at first it might be cancer with her love of sunbathing, but it's been there so long now without getting any worse it surely can't be that.

Re: Fudge
I would have thought it would have grown or she would be showing other signs if it was cancer. Moto has balck marks on his nose, they disappeared in winter but are back again, don't know what they are either. Could just be pigmentation.

Re: Fudge
It appears to be just a very dry nose on her Kath and looks a bit sore, but isn't something I'm overly worried about.

Re: Fudge
Doesn't seem to be anything suspect, you would soon know if it was. I printed this pic off yesterday and will tryy and paint her, if it turns out ok, I'll send it down to you.

Re: Fudge
I posted this pic on another forum (non cat but a 285 page and counting cat related thread) and was asked if she was getting married
Thinking about it, she and Jimmy fight like a old married couple so maybe this is just a cover for true love

Re: Fudge
Lovely pic of the gorgeous Fudge.
mary also has two marks on her nose (either side) which seem to disappear in winter.

Re: Fudge
Thanks Lynn
The marks on their noses are probably something and nothing, with Fudge it just seems she has a very dry nose.

Re: Fudge
Speaking of marks, do you want me to put in that mark on her nose in her portrait? I would leave it out but if you think it's so much a part of her, I'll put it in, your choice.

Re: Fudge
Oh a brighter note,(as opposed to pc's) Fudges portrait is coming along, taking me a while as so much other stuff is intruding, but getting there.
