Poor Jimmy
I've mentioned him having steroid jabs to help with a bad reaction to flea bites in a earlier thread (can't find it) and while they helped, things seem to have got worse as he's now got two small-ish, but open sores, one on a shoulder and one on his face, which looks like it could easily be a bite.
He's also got what I first thought were two bald patches starting, one near each ear, but on closer inspection feel like horns are strating to grow. He's happy enough, playing and eating and I know Debbie wouldn't neglect him intentionally, but with him seldom being in their house and her working such odd shifts, perhaps she's not noticed these yet.

Re: Poor Jimmy
Wonder if the horns are a build up of scar tissue. When Sophie is bad, I often feel hard bits on her, on closer inspection they're usually scar tissue.

Re: Poor Jimmy
More than likely that Kath, tho' they didn't seem so bad when I checked yesterday. The sores are still there but they're slowly healing.

Re: Poor Jimmy
Poor thing, he must have been going crazy with the itch. Sophie still has hard little bits but she's not itching now.

Re: Poor Jimmy
That's just it, I've never seen him scratch a lot, no more and probably less than the average catTeddy wrote:Poor thing, he must have been going crazy with the itch. Sophie still has hard little bits but she's not itching now.

Re: Poor Jimmy
I can't see them being anything nasty tbh, it's just odd that both are the same size and in pretty much identical places above each eye/between his ears. I had a quick look earlier and they are scabbing over nicely/healing.

Re: Poor Jimmy
Unuusal that there are two, both the same, if it had been one, we could maybe have said a bite, oh well as long as they're healing..................

He looks a bit tatty close up, but the various sores, etc, aren't bothering him.

Re: Poor Jimmy
aaaww well we can't all be model material, as long as he's happy and not uncomfortable there's not much to do.

Re: Poor Jimmy
He's now got a nasty looking sore on the right hand side of his face, it's either a bite wound or he's really been scratching himself.

He's happy enough Kath, but whatever the cause of these sores, he really need looking at again imo.

Re: Poor Jimmy
Debbie said he'd been treated with steroids for a bad reaction to flea bites some time ago. It was mainly on his body/back then but is now, if it's the same thing, on his legs and face. It's not bothering him as far as I can tell, but looks a bit unsightly.

Re: Poor Jimmy
I don't know what he's like at home atm, but he's turning his nose up at pretty much everything I give him, food he'll normally lick a plate clean after, cooked chicken and turkey, etc. The only thing he's eating, tho' less than usual, is dry food so there's can't be much, if anything, wrong with his teeth or mouth.
He's still coming in as much as ever, but thinking about it, I can't remember the last time he went further than the kitchen, so I wonder if something has happened here that I'm unaware of?

Re: Poor Jimmy
Jimmy showed a side to his character I'd not seen before this afternoon, he not only stood up for himself he actually went after the other cat (one of next doors 2 toms) who'd been bothering him. Something all the more surprising as this cat literally dwarfs Jimmy but a big for him not relying on my coming to his rescue.

Re: Poor Jimmy
I managed to get a good look at him today and the recent sores are healing nicely now, but amazingly the sores/scabs on his back have completely gone Debbie must have taken him to the vets for more steroids.

There's no doubt he's looking happier atm, maybe all this was bothering him more than Debbie realised.
