Is nothing safe? Empty Is nothing safe?

I've been following a thread *over there* about the dangers of certain types of canned food. Seemingly there's a possible link between ring pull type tins and hyperthyroidism in cats due to a chemical used in sealing said tins. Some of the research linked implying a connection is old > 2004 onwards, but it makes you wonder (tho' not much in my case tbh) if there's anything in it

I don't use cans anyway, I buy pouches so hope they are safe enough.
