Re: My poor poor boy.
Thanx for all your well wishes.
Tomorrow at the vet, I just want them to tell us, that he is doing as he should be, even though in my heart of hearts, I want them to tell us he has made a miraculous recovery and can be let out that darned cage (clearly!)
You might be right Helen, him being more sleepy due to the anaesthetic might not be such a bad thing. We will wait and see what they say.
"adapting to cage life" *shudders*! I know what you mean, and that it makes life easier for him, but it sounds so wrong doesnt it!
Daft thing is, Sean and I are missing our closeness with him as much, if not more than he is. Cant wait to have him snuggled on the bed with us again, taking over and giving me cramp and no sleep!

Re: My poor poor boy.
Poor Princey! I'm sorry I missed this thread, my access to the internet has been limited - now I have a new laptop all is sorted.
It's sounds terribly stressful for the three of you, although Prince seems to have adjusted which is good. I'm sure he'll get more and more used to it as time passes. I imagine just seeing you and Sean is of great comfort to him.
Good luck at the vets tomorrow, thinking of you all xx

Re: My poor poor boy.
Thanx everyone. (havn't been able to let you know before, as cant get access anymore at work).
Things went fine at the vet this morning. He is doing well, and as expected, and that is all we really wanted to hear. He didnt cry or anything when the vet manipulated his leg. Good as gold he was.
We have just to continue as we are doing for the next two weeks, with his pain medication and resting in the cage.
Its horrid for us, but he is adjusting well. Just been up and put in his heated lavender bag (one that I heat up and use for my neck) and he is kneading away at it with his paws.

Re: My poor poor boy.
Bless him kneading his special pillow - what an adorable image. If he's kneading away he must be pretty content, so try not to worry that he's unhappy.
It's good news that it went well at the vets. I'm sure two weeks must seem like ages to you, let's hope it flies by. xx

Re: My poor poor boy.
Glad to hear that everything went well for Prince. Two weeks isn't along time and it will be worth it in the end. He sounds happy enough so you must be doing alright. *Sending belly rubs to Princey boy.*
Re: My poor poor boy.
Bless... what a sweeties he is! Give him a lovely little cuddle from me!
2 weeks... I'm sure Prince will be ok... more worried about how you'll cope with the two weeks!

Re: My poor poor boy.
I'd be more worried about coping with the pent up energy when he finally gets his freedom backpokbg wrote:Bless... what a sweeties he is! Give him a lovely little cuddle from me!

Re: My poor poor boy.
Great news then Nicki, had to laugh at what Ian said, two weeks of pent up energy about to explode. He'll be so much better then and back to his old self again.

Re: My poor poor boy.
I'm off again in a tick... so got my fingers crossed everything is going smoothly both for Prince and for you Nicki!
Re: My poor poor boy.
We are all fine thanx my lovelies. Princey is good as gold, although he had me up at 3.50am this morning, bless him, he woke me up crying, so I went through and gave him some cuddles and strokes. Sometimes he just needs the reassurance and attention. Needless to say when the alarm went off at 6am, I was a tad sleepy. But what can you do eh - there's no way i can just ignore him. I know he isnt distressed or in any pain when he cries, its just some loving he wants.
Just cant wait for the next two weeks to go by. We think maybe this Friday we will let him out for a walk about, so we can see how he copes, although even when his leg heals, he will obviously still limp for a bit due to not moving around for 3 weeks!

Re: My poor poor boy.
Glad to hear you're all doing so well Please speak to the vets before letting him out for a little bit on Friday, the last thing either of you need is a set back. Good luck. At least it'll be keeping your mind off work a bit (flippant I know, but sure you know what I mean ) You're all doing so well! Are you starting to feel a bit better about it all?

Re: My poor poor boy.
Princey is still doing fine, but last night, oh boy, was he unsettled! We were up and down to him all night as he kept on crying. Even though I knew there was nothing wrong with him as such, I still saw every hour on the clock going through to him. Bless my big boy, he is just right fed up!
When we got home earlier, Sean took him out and sat with him on his knee, while I re-arranged all his blankies etc and cleared out all the "kicked out litter" (plus shredded newspaper - sheesh, its like Freddie Kruger gets in there with him on a night time - its like he is trying to dig/shred his way out)!
Sean also "placed" him down on the floor, to see what he would do with his leg. He still limped, but he was weight bearing, which he was unable to do before. He was only allowed a couple of steps, then picked up again. Its given us more of an idea that he is still progressing.

Re: My poor poor boy.
Glad to hear there's a bit of progress with his healing Nicki, tho' the odds are he'll still limp for a while even after getting the all clear. It'll take some time for him to realise walking *normally* no longer hurts.

Re: My poor poor boy.
That's good to hear Nicki, he will get fed up and when you think of it, most cats are active, dusk and dawn, and as he was alllowed out at night, that's probably when he'll be most restless. But look at the progress, he's standing on his leg now, so it is worthwhile. Keep going you're doing great. x

Re: My poor poor boy.
You're doing so well! The fact he can weight bear a little is so encouraging, it shows that the cage rest is working, its tiring for you with all the night time disturbances, but is clearly doing your big boy good! Proud of you and Sean.
