Kitty

My sister phoned me tonight for a chat, and broke the sad news to me that our parents' cat Kitty had to be put down on Sunday. She was a good age (18 years according to my sister) but over the last few years she became thin which was due to hyperthyroidism. The vet put her on medication to control this, and it appeared to work and Kitty gained weight and was brighter in herself. Only this year, mum said that Kitty had some sort of dementia, she'd pull her fur out and would demand to be let in/out all the time, jump on surfaces which she never did before. Just acting very strange. She would vomit a lot so mum had to feed her just chicken as it was the only thing she could eat and keep down. My sister told me that on Sunday she found a patch of vomit and Kitty lethargic lying on the carpet in the living room (she went to stay with mum and dad last weekend) and so mum phoned the emergency vets. They took her in, and that was that. Apparently she was dying so they had to have her P.T.S.
R.I.P Kitty. We all have lovely memories of you. I will never forget the evening when you turned up on our front doorstep mewing and we took you in and you adpoted us. I was only 10 years old. You were a beautiful, playful, soft, cuddly,fat, sleepy cat. We love you and will never forget you.

really sad for you all Ali, and at 18 there will be loads to remember from her. She was a beauty.

RIP Kitty. What a lovely girl you were, and what a ripe old age you lived to. You have left your family with so many fond memories. Have a wonderful after-life at Rainbow Bridge sweetie.

Thank you all. Spoke to mum and dad tonight and they were both sad for Kitty, but it was the best decision all round. We have lovely fond memories of her so we'll keep them in our hearts and heads.
