Buddy's eyes
Hi All,
I don't *think* anything is wrong, but this has been puzzling me for ages.
It doesn't matter how bright it is, his pupils are always dilated I did a quick google and it appears this can be a sign of serious illness, but he seems fine and his vision is just as good as the others, and I'm pretty sure he has none of the conditions linked with having dilated pupils.

Re: Buddy's eyes
still that isn't right, can you shine a torch at him and see if his pupils react as they should, if they don't , well a word to Donna wouldn't go amiss.

Re: Buddy's eyes
Hi Kath,
I'll try a torch later.
As for telling Donna, maybe she's noticed the same thing and this coupled with his aggression means she's not overly bothered about him being here so much. If there is something wrong with his eyes, I wonder if the aggression could be linked to that? One of the possible causes is high blood pressure, if he has and gets a bad *headache* that could perhaps explain him just lashing out.
'EDIT'
I've just tried a torch and his pupils do react, tho' not as much as I expected.

Re: Buddy's eyes
bit weird, Sams eyes didn't react allthat much when we did that, but then he was obviously ill. I could be wrong but get the impression Donna has just wiped her hands of him, maybe she's just leaving him to you.

Re: Buddy's eyes
Hi Kath,
Thinking about it, his pupils aren't that much different from Bolas, neither have that pupils-almost-disappearing look when it's bright or they're happy and relaxed, but Buddys are fully dilated more than Bolas.
It could well be Donna has done that, I did say I'd be happy to take him on if it became obvious he wanted to spend more time here with me than with her, but only if she agreed to it. He's not spending any more time here than William did tbh, and she seemed content enough knowing he had several *homes* nearby.
I couldn't do much more than I did in locking the flap during the day while the weather was better, I'm cetainly not locking them out now it's so cold.

Re: Buddy's eyes
I reckon she knows he's safe, she knows where he goes and she ahs nothing to worry about, looks like you have a permament (sp) resident with you, whether you like it or not.

Re: Buddy's eyes
I tried to explain to Donna that it's not my company he wants, it's Bolas, that, a bed and a bit of food makes him one very happy cat. If you add my other visitors, who barring Jimmy and Bolas friend from across the road, he gets on with the rest and it must be near cat heaven for him.

Re: Buddy's eyes
I'm pleased to say I noticed his pupils were pretty much normal yesterday afternoon while he was out in the snow

Re: Buddy's eyes
Wonder what it was then Ian. Although, his pupils would prob naturally go smaller again in the brightness of the snow anyway.

Re: Buddy's eyes
I've no idea, but his pupils are still larger than the others when indoors, tho' there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with his eyesight.*Prince* wrote:Wonder what it was then Ian. Although, his pupils would prob naturally go smaller again in the brightness of the snow anyway.

Re: Buddy's eyes
No idea Ian. I am blind in one eye (not from birth) , and my blind eye pupil is permanently dilated. I realise as Im typing this, that it is of no help whatsoever , but I guess what Im saying is, eyes are very complex eh.

Re: Buddy's eyes
Yeah, I know, my right pupil is always half as big again as the left and the docs/opticians can't explain why. It expands/contracts with light as it should, it's just always bigger than the other pupil.*Prince* wrote:No idea Ian.
