It's taken some time........

..........but Buddy and Max have just cottoned on to the fact that when I give them a belly rub they can kick, bite and scratch me if they want. As long as they don't go any further than Bola, who often draws blood, I don't mind them using my hand as a cat punchbag

Strangely, Malo, the wild one often swipes at me, but I can tell it is in play as he has his claws retracted, and it never so much as scratches. He also bites in a playful manner, not hurting. The scatches that I bear all over are from Bonnie, but never either in play or in malice - always because she is spooked at something and out come her claws to grip onto me is sheer panic. Rather you than me in terms of having your hand as a punchbag and Bola drawing blood - but then again, if they get pleasure from it and you don't mind, that's fine and dandy.

Hi Joanne,

As with Beckett, I encouraged Bola to play rough with me when they were kittens, and as much as both draw blood, there's no real intent behind it................tho' the state of my hands and arms often needs some explaining

The aftermath of another energetic *workout* on my hand from Bola earlier today I had to stop him as he was kicking away with claws fully out at the inside of my arm. Too many veins near the surface and sharp claws meant it could have been nasty.
