Don't know how to handle this but Moto seems to be getting worse. Everytime Sophie is in the garden he pounces on her, pins her down by the neck and then she's squealing. I've tried ignoring it, but he doesn't give up and she squeals louder. I've tried chasing him away, which only solves the problem at that time, I've tried squirting him with water, but again that only stops him at the time. It's getting really bad, so far he hasn't broken her skin, but I reckon it's just a matter of time.

I know I shouldn't have, but after trying everything else I ended up giving Bola a *gentle* slap when he picked on one of the others wanting a playfight but they didn't. It's worked, all I have to do now is say "No" and he stops, and tbh, the same thing works with Buddy when he goes for the cat from across the road.

When I open the door to stop him, he runs away so I haven't been able to slap him. Laughing he knows he's doing wrong, I open the door, Sophie runs inside Moto runs down the driveway, honestly it looks like something from a carry on film, only it's not really funny, well not for Sophie. Not an easy one if the culprit runs away before being told off. We have a similar problem with our two, but in the house, so both are within telling off distance and a wagged finger and 'No' does the trick. Bonnie is the perpetrator despite being smaller and nowhere near as athletic. When we had dogs, a Belgian sheepdog and a Great Dane, the Great Dane would let go immediately we said no, but the much smaller Belgian sheepdog would hang on with persistence and have to be prised off.

It must be so difficult to know how to deal with this Kath. Some cats just will never "get on" and at best tolerate each other, but when Moto loon keeps attacking Sophie like that......... argh!
Like you say - he's a sleekit wee shite, and KNOWS he is being naughty, the way he shoots off down the drive way! *sniggering at the imagery here, and knowing I shouldnt as its crap for Miss Sophie* Embarassed

Moto & Sophie 43453 oh it's not funny really but you have to laugh. The thing is, when they're in the house he's fine as I can then say no to him and they even share the same bed, but outside it's a diffrent matter. Maybe he thinks the garden is his, well we've had her nearly 4 years if he doesn't realise it's to share, he is even more daft than I first thought. Laughing

Yep - stupid is probably right! They say that male cats are nae as bright as females! Wink
So daft though eh, that he snuggles up with her in a basket then "tries" to act all manly and territorial outside! If only his mates could see him at bed time! A ha ah ha ha! Moto & Sophie 72767
