Bola has slowed right down
I'm not unduly concerned atm as he's happy enough, but for a cat who was 1000mph in everything he did 6 months ago, he now spends a lot of time just lying about sleeping. He'll still have a mad minute every now and again, but nothing like he used to, which could explain why he's getting so porkified
I'll still be keeping a very close eye on him as he's still young enough to be the nuisance of a few months back, but there's been a marked change in his behaviour.

Re: Bola has slowed right down
wonder what's brought that on? but he's now a teenager Ian and most teenagers I've come across are so slow with a * I can't be bothered* attitude, it could be the same with him.
He's probably just fine, but as you say keep your eye on him, just incase, it's worth considering diabetes, probaly not, but just to be aware.

Re: Bola has slowed right down
Hi Kath,
I've no idea what has happened, but he rarely even pounces on Dexter these days, or join in when I'm playing outside with the fishing rod toy, and that is unusual. I'm not sure how old he is now (around 3?) but he's not old enough to have become a gentleman of leisure almost overnight.
It *could* be the winter approaching, but I doubt that as it's never slowed him down before. He's eating and drinking ok, plus the weight gain so probably not diabetes, but I won't leave it much longer without getting him checked out at the vet.

Good idea to keep an eye on him Ian, but Kath could be right, those Teenage/Kevin years change a boy.

Re: Bola has slowed right down
Time to change his batteries? Seriously tho, I hope he's ok. We all know you'll be keeping an extra close eye on him, although it could just be him growing up? Boo is around the same sort of age and instead of flying around, she's now content to snuggle up somewhere warm... until a fly appears or the devil gets in her again! lol. Give your boy a few gentle hugs from me and tell him, he better just be growing up! ;-)

Re: Bola has slowed right down
Moto is five now but I would say for the past year he just doesn't bother himself much at all. I was saying to Steve that he is like a premature pensioner, doesn't wander awy, which is good, but doesn't play either, now and again, he's have a mad half minute, but he's certainly lost the kitten in him, and he's fine health wise.

Re: Bola has slowed right down
He's haring round the garden atm, still not the 1000mph cat of old, but a relief to see all the same
I can't help wondering if part of the reason for the recent obvious slow down is that Dexter clearly prefers playing with Buddy, who's not big enough to be as rough as Bola. Perhaps he's feeling a bit put out by this?

Re: Bola has slowed right down
wow could be, he's jealous !! well I suppose that could happen, one minutes he's the bees knees, new kid on the block strolls in and takes over, one miffed Bola, maybe you'll need to give him extra attention.

Re: Bola has slowed right down
It didn't take him long to join in with Buddy and Dexter with the fishing rod/feather toy, again not as enthusiastic as he used to be, but still good to see.

Re: Bola has slowed right down
He was bouncing around like the Bola of old last night/this morning I hope this has nothing to do with Buddy going missing...............I wonder if Bola has tied him up somewhere?

Normal Bola service has been resumed today he's even been playing chase with Buddy on the stairs who has just driven Dexter out by *insisting* that he plays as well
