Well Mads is off to the vets this evening as her calling out for food constantly is getting beyond pathetic, that and she has lost a bit of weight despite increased intake and she is 8/9 now so we figure we'll better get her checked out. Oh she is going to love us lol.

Things went their usual way lol. The vet thinks she may have a borderline overactive thyroid. She was being fairly good with the vet so he decided to do the blood test there and then when we were there as as soon as they take her round the back she turns into crazy psycho vet-killer cat. Anyhoo he went to get the nurse and when he left the room she looked to her carrier and when she wasn't given the option to go straight back in it she started getting agitated. The nurse then appeared with a towel and she went for the nurse who had to step back and back off from the psycho kitty wanting to maim her, so the only way to get the blood is going to be to sedate her. I'm taking her in for 11 tomorrow for the test to be done.

Awwww bless Laughing Psycho Kitty just didn't want those Evil Vets shaving her and stealing her blood Wink

Both Rosie and Molly had/have hyperthyroidism so I'm beginning to feel like an 'expert' with dealing with it Laughing After a lifetime of cats never needing the vet apart from regular vaccinations and neutering my two oldies have had me virtually spending as much time at the vets as I do at work ? Thyroid problem 172268 Rosie was only with us so briefly so we couldn't get her onto treatment to sort it out (along with all the other things wrong with her) but Molly is on vidalta tablets (one pill twice per day) and they seem to be helping her a lot. Last week, Thursday, she had her neck shaved and a blood sample taken to test her thyroid again so hopefully we will be able to get the results from the vet this Thursday when we have our next appointment Very Happy

Fingers crossed darling Maddie is ok tomorrow......and the vets survive ? Thyroid problem 43453 (((HUGS)))

Well, I can go and pick her up soon. The vets had to sedate her in her carrier as she was being a bit naughty. Despite having an enlarged left thyroid all her bloods came back normal save for a slightly elevated glucose level, but as she was stressed out that can be explained away, so the vet thinks her hunger and weightloss is down to her diet food, but why is it suddenly coming off now? lol Anyhoo, an expensive way to find out that she is well, but we don't care, just looking forward to picking her back up. x

Glad to hear the results came back normal, but like you say, why is the weight coming off now?!?! Ach well, back to the old "keeping an eye on her" eh! Give her loads of snuggles for being such a brave (naughty!) girl! Wink

Glad to hear she's fine, I've heard of BP raising when visiting doctors/vets but not glucose levels. Just watch she isn't drinking/peeing more often, just to be on the safe side. ? Thyroid problem 579159

She's now home and still a wee bit groggy, just wanting to be around us, we went upstairs before and she started howling for us lol.
We asked the vet about her enlarged thyroid/lump in neck and he told us to keep an eye as even with the normal blood results she could still be developing a thyroid disorder or it could be an endocrine tumour so to keep an eye just in case and bring her straight back in if she gets worse or developes anymore symptoms. She had a warning sign above her carrier as was a right madam!

A warning sign - oh bless her ? Thyroid problem 43453 How silly....I mean, just HOW fierce can a teeny weeny pussy cat be? ? Thyroid problem 72767

I had a phone call at 5.30pm from our vet with the results of Molly's blood tests last Thursday and vet ain't happy with them No So I've rescheduled her appointment for tomorrow morning at 9am instead of Thursday @ 10am - I'd rather speak to the vet ASAP and find out what's going on Rolling Eyes I'm not too worried *yet* as Molly seems a LOT happier and livelier this week than she has since we got her ?
