problem with Mary Empty problem with Mary

Post by littlekitty Sat Aug 04, 2012 1:48 pm

Mary wasn't well during the night, I found sick at the bottom of the stairs and dry poo outside Tina's bedroom door (in a corner),
As she is locked in at night, she sometimes has accidents on the carpet but I have 2 litter trays down and she won't use them. How can I get her to start using a tray, as when we move she will be in for a few weeks and don't want her to mess all the time.
She did use a box when I first got her 5 years ago but since they are both outdoor I didn't bother with boxes inside, but now Mary is inside at night I put them down. Maybe if we mix some compost in with the litter, that might help.

Hi Lynn,

If she's used to toileting outside it might be worthwhile putting soil in the trays as she'll be used to the feel of it under her paws. Your compost idea will be worth trying first tho' imo.

She isn't interested in food, and her purr is weird. she was sat in the window and it looked like she was struggling to breathe, like when someone had asthma, . She is very lethargic, and just lying in the window, not interested in anything. Going to try get her to vet today.

Hi Lynn,

That sounds like how Max was when his Herpes was at it's worst, his breathing was so bad I thought he'd die before I could rush him to the vets. Better get Mary looked at asap, hopefully it'll be something easily treated.

Hi Lynn,

Here's hoping it was nothing a jab couldn't soon put right.

She had an antibiotic and liquid parafin, despite the vet not finding anything wrong.

Hi Lynn,

Good old antibiotic jab, they do no harm but hopefully do some good. It'll just be a matter of keeping a close eye on her for a day or so as cats are sods for seeming 100% healthy at the vets despite looking like death at home.

Thanks Ian, she is certainly looking better today, she has had a good old scrape around her food bowl and gave me nibbles, something she done the past few days, so she must be feeling better.

Good to hear Lynn Very Happy problem with Mary 579159

I've got a off colour Fudge on my hands atm, she was sick at least once overnight tho' I suspect one of the others was as well. She's refused food so far today and is looking really sorry for herself atm.
