Interior cat flaps
Hi All,
Just wondering how many here have flaps on interior doors?
My lot are driving me mad atm, opening the living room door when coming in and letting all the warmth out/cold in I'm getting just a tad fed up of constantly getting up to close the door, not that I ever have it fully shut, I always leave it slightly ajar with what should be enough room for them to enter without having to push it fully open, but they still do.
I've still got the tatty flap I took off the back door and it wouldn't be a big job fitting it on the living room door, but I don't want to go to all that trouble if they won't use it.

Re: Interior cat flaps
We don't have it, but have been considering getting it up at the house... problem would come when the day comes to sell it though, we'd have to change the bedroom doors or hope that a catlover would be interested! lol!
Re: Interior cat flaps
I always said that when we got our ideal Forever Home we'd put interior cat flaps in as , like you Ian, it's beyond a joke having to keep doors open all the time and letting all the heat out and draughts in!!!

Re: Interior cat flaps
I would imagine they would use it Ian, especially if it's one with a clear flap, if they are on one side of the door and you are on the other, refusing to move and let them in, sooner or later they will go through it. YOu may have to entice them a couple of times, but I can't see it being a problem.

Re: Interior cat flaps
We have thought about putting a flap in the door that leads from the kitchen to the hall way so that the babies have access to outside 24/7, as we always leave the kitchen door open for them now, but they have to go through the stair gate, which is across the door, to get upstairs. but with the house not being ours we would have to get permission for the association before we could fit one, which would mean replacing the door if we ever left.
Re: Interior cat flaps
If I get round to it, I'll fit it on the living room door this weekend. It'll have a clear flap so there shouldn't be a problem with them using it as it's exactly the same flap as the one on the back door.

Re: Interior cat flaps
I bet once you do that you'll wonder why you didn't do it before. They will love it or either be so contrary and just sit and miaow from the otherside until you get up and open the door.

Re: Interior cat flaps
I *may* have found a partrial solution to the door being left open after they come in, with Bola at least, and it was free ................All I've done is tie a shoelace to the door handle, now every time Bola comes in now he pounces on the lace and shuts the door
This won't last long and I've still got to get up and shut the door after they've gone out, but it's better than nothing/fitting a flap atm.
