Poorly old lady *RIP*
My partners' mums' cat Sophie is ill. She's an old girl, but has always been the most active of the two (she has two cats the other is Puds and she lives up to her name lol). But for the past few days she's been laying on the same chair day and night, she won't eat or go to the toilet, she just lies there. Her sister keeps on joining her to curl up and keep her warm. She still purrs when stroked tho. My partner saw her yesterday and she really is not looking good. My partners' folks will be taking her to the vets. She's such a lovely girl, will come up to anyone purring away for a stroke then when you stroke her she runs away, then will come straight back, but if you ignore her she'll bat and headbut you! LOL! Oh I hope she'll be ok, but it certainly doesn't sound good.

Aaawww poor Sophie, I just hope she's comfortable, regardless of the outcome, we always hope they aren't suffering. Will keep my fingers crossed for her though, and hope she pulls through.

Re: Poorly old lady *RIP*
To be fair she does look quite comfy on the chair LOL! Although she did jump down off the chair yesterday and was that breathless she just lay down panting where she was. She's better off just staying on the chair where shes warm.
I hope his folks call when they go to vets. keeping my fingers crossed that its a chest infection or something fixable. x

Re: Poorly old lady *RIP*
She died at the vets today. She had a tumour on her kidney and her lungs were filled with fluid. She was kept in to have the fluid drained and she died during. My partners parents are devastated. She's getting cremated at the vets and they are going to scatter her ashes around her home in the garden and fields that she loved to play. RIP beautiful girl. Young again and full of energy. xxxx

Re: Poorly old lady *RIP*
I know. I mean we all knew she wasn't right bless her, but I think everyone believed she would pull through, so in that sense it is very sudden. Poor lamb must have been suffering with fluid on her lungs, no wonder she just wanted to lay there and not move. But bless her for still being so loving and purring like a mad thing when stroked on the chair. We're going to take some flowers up to my partners folks tomorrow. Her poor sister Puds will be looking for her. x

Re: Poorly old lady *RIP*
Sorry to hear about Sophie, and if Puds is anything like Fudge when we lost Black Tom, she'll miss Sophie for a while. Fudge spent ages just going from room to room looking for BT, then spent just as long on the living room windowsill watching out for him coming home, it probably took a few weeks before she *realised* he wasn't coming back again. That's the worst part of losing a cat who been with another for a long time, they know something is wrong but there's no way of telling them what has happened.

Oh thats so sad, the image of Fudge searching. Yes, if only there was a way of letting them know. Thanks everyone. I don't know if we should go up tonight or not, or just to leave them for a few days.

Re: Poorly old lady *RIP*
Watching Fudge was almost heartbreaking, she was never a *cuddle-cat* but became very clingy with me for a while, followed me everywhere in the house as tho' I knew where BT was hidden and I'd lead her to him.maddymoo wrote:Oh thats so sad, the image of Fudge searching. I was hoping she'd *team up* with Beckett as she had with BT, but considering what happened to Beckett, it's just as well she didn't.
