Teddy was so happy
It's taken Teddy quite a while to get used to being outside, but today he loved it. We attached an extenting dog lead onto his harness so
he could move more freely, still not ideal from his point of view as he kept getting himself all tangled up in cirles, but he love it. LOL
Here he is having a little rest before he started exploring all over again, I spent most of the day, rescuing him.

Re: Teddy was so happy
One day outside and his fur is grubby and matted, so he's had a grooming section, and now he is sound asleep. This morning before I let him out he was sitting looking out the kitchen window and he was crying so much it was heartbreaking, so that's when I decided to tie him securely to something and just let him wander about a bit. I've probably made things harder for him, cos now he'll want out all the time.

Re: Teddy was so happy
Blimey, he's positively glowing outside. You been using Daz on him again, Kath!
Glad he's had a fun time today. Cats seem to struggle with the concept of harnesses don't they. I think it was Ceri who said her cats just flopped on the floor whilst wearing a harness. I love that image, of them laying like ragdolls on the floor.

Re: Teddy was so happy
He's absolutely gorgeous, and so clean. He seems to be enjoying himself outside. Big fluffy teddy bear.
My two have been outside most of the day, basking in the sun.

Aaaaaaaargh - want to snuggle! Want to snuggle the big beautiful boy you got! He's so gorgeous!
Fab news that he's been having fun! Hopefully he'll soon get the hang of not going places where he gets tangled... but now he'll probably want to go out all the time... lol!

Re: Teddy was so happy
He's not too bad with the harness now, which makes me think at one time he may have worn a collar. He really struggles though when he wants to go somewhere and he's reached the end of the *rope*, then he shakes his head and tries so hard to free himself. I probably have made it worse for him, but maybe as we're not there most of the time, we won't be so bad, he'll know there's no-one to hear him. LOL

Re: Teddy was so happy
Hi Kath,
Nice to see him enjoying a taste of freedom, even if it is restricted
I can't see how being on a harness is that much worse than him being let loose in a cat proofed garden, well except for one thing. I wouldn't be totally relaxed about leaving him unattended for any length of time, the tables and chairs are all too easy for him to get the harness tangled round, and if he happened to jump off the table with little or no play left in the harness, it could be nasty if you're not around to free him.
A bit of a killjoy thought from someone who suggested giving him his freedom, I know.

Re: Teddy was so happy
He was never on his own Ian, it was so easy for him to get tangled while we were there, so there's no fear of him being on his own, scary thought. I did put him in the pen so he was still outside but not, if you know what I mean, but oh no, he was not happy, started his crying again and scraping at the perspex, so out he came. He was full of curiosity as it was his first time outside on his *own*, but it fairly kept me on my toes. he was so tired last night, he couldn't keep his eyes open. LOl

Re: Teddy was so happy
Hi Kath,
With the weather becomming warmer and drier now, there'll be no stopping him wanting to be outside, you're gonna have your work cut of containing him. Still, if it tires him out, it might be a price worth paying so you can get some rest yourselves

Re: Teddy was so happy
Aw he's a such handsome chap out there on his harness (not that you can really see it under all that lovely fur!). So pleased he enjoyed himself outside, it's lovely for him to have a taste of freedom. I know Monty who is a similar age (and level of mischief!!) can't get enough of it!
As you say though - rod for your own back! We only let Monty out if we are with him because he's such a hooligan, but everyday he sits at the door crying to go out!!

Re: Teddy was so happy
Aawww poor Monty, LOL it's so pitiful when they start crying. Teddy is really good though, he hasn't tried to escape, well not yet anyway. But as the lighter/warmer nights come in we'll be able to take him outside while were in the garden.

Re: Teddy was so happy
It was only yesterday, LOL I had taken him out on the harness a couple of times and he acted really scared, but yesterday was so lovely and he was greeting, so I *tied him up *, LOL and he loved it. I think I was on the go non stop, untangling him from bushes, chairs and pot plants. LOL

LOL! Cripes! I thought he'd been going out for WEEKS!
Aw bless him, the gorgeous boy - sounds like it might be the answer to tiring him out - even if it tires your guys out initially! Fingers crossed.
