Re: A full garden atm (kitten update)
Phew poor Donna, I would hate not knowing what happened to one of mine, bad enough if they're in an accident but just to disappear, all sorts must be going through her head.
*Buddy* well that's appropriate

Re: A full garden atm (kitten update)
Hi Kath,
It must be even worse for Donna as this cat is just so frail, phsically, there's no way she could have gone far by herself. She's clinging to the hope that someone has found/taken her in, or perhaps to the vets, but without a collar or ID, let alone being chipped, it's unlikely they'll find out she has a home.
I hope I'm wrong, but the sad truth is there are loads of places this cat could have gone/got trapped/or god forbid died, literally within minutes of her house and without knocking on a hell of a lot of doors asking to check their gardens or sheds, I don't think she'll ever find out for sure what's happened.

Re: A full garden atm (kitten update)
I had to literally chase Buddy home late last night. He'd come in earlier, had a mad 10 minutes on the cat tree (I wish I'd got a video of this, it was brilliant) then left, but after I came back downstairs after having a shower he was curled up and dead to the world on my recliner. I left him there till I was ready for bed then put him out, but the little sod kept trying to come back in.
In the end I chased him to the front of the house and managed to shoo him towards home, tho' the last I saw of him was trotting down the middle of the road, not good. I fully expected to see him curled up somewhere this morning but there was no sign of him.
On a side note, I can't be 100% sure, but I'm still pretty certain I heard Donnas missing cat yowling to be let in around 10.30pm There can't be two cats locally with such a loud and distinctive miaow, if I could clearly hear her three doors away above the sound of my tv then Donna must have.
'EDIT'
Buddy is about atm, but amazingly hasn't tried to come in (so far) tho' that may be due to the ginger tom with cancer being sprawled over the doorstep waiting for more food. I had good play with Buddy earlier and his fav, a fishing rod toy............jeez, is he fast tho'

Re: A full garden atm (kitten update)
After hanging around for most of the day Buddy still hasn't tried to come in, I wonder if my shoo-ing him away last night *worked*? He's been there wanting to play whenever he's spotted me in the garden, but he's not wanted any food, not even a few cooked meat treats I've taken out, so he must be going home to be fed.

Re: A full garden atm (kitten update)
I didn't see anything of him after 7pm last night so he must have gone home, but he was in my garden first thing today so perhaps not. Still no attempt to come in, even tho' I left the door ajar while I took the wheelie bin to the front of the house.
Catching Donna in to ask is tricky, more often than not she is in, but with her having so many problems with her chest/breathing, apparently she spends a lot of time in bed so I wouldn't want to disturb her. I'll ask her son next time I see him.

Re: A full garden atm (kitten update)
If she's in bed a lot, it's no surprise that Buddy is out all hours, Donna's not able to chase him about and I doubt the son would even think about it.

Re: A full garden atm (kitten update)
Hi Kath,
It could easily be a misunderstanding on my part and that she's not actually in bed, just lay down/resting, but either way, as you say, she won't be able to chase him around. The son works, and judging by the odd times I've seen him coming home/leaving the house, he works shifts so he can't be there on a *regular* basis.
Buddy has sneaked in a couple of times today, but didn't stay longer than a few minutes, he just had a quick prowl round then left. He seems happy enough for me to just play with him in the garden (and that's no hardship) as he loves the home made fishing rod toy, I get fed up long before he does. I've had to start wedging in the handles of a wheelie bin to stop him trying to take it with him when he strolls back home
'EDIT'
And while I think on, when Donna came up on Sunday to ask if I'd seen Buddy, she told me every chance he got he went into her neighbours house as well, so it's not just mine. For such a youngster, he's one confident little cat

Oh I know that feeling well. Seems to me, he's happy and healthy and even if he doesn't stay long in your house, there's no telling how long he stays in the other neighbours house, I reckon you have one friendly kitten there that is just doing the rounds.

Re: A full garden atm (kitten update)
He's sneaked in a couple of times today, he remembers the cat tree and loves it. It's not a big tree, the ideal size for a kitten, but Fudge was sat on the windowsill and made it plain she wasn't impressed at all his acrobatics, not that he cared one bit about her disaproval

Re: A full garden atm (kitten update)
I'll be happy if he does that Kath, much the same as Jimmy, Max and Dexter, they call regularly but know they have a real home. He had a good munch on some biscuits earlier, but that was unusual, so getting food isn't the attraction of calling here. I'd like to think he knows I'll play with him in the garden and just comes in looking for me

I would say so, Donna probably can't play with him the way you do and being a kitten, we all know how they love to interact.

Re: A full garden atm (kitten update)
Buddy sneaked in late last night and followed me upstairs as I was going to bed, only stopping to pounce on Bola and Dexter who were just behind him, both backed off and went back downstairs. Seeing a kitten stop two adult cats in their tracks was pretty they waited till he'd gone before coming up and lying on my bed, but the peace didn't last long before Buddy appeared again and comandeered the dry food bowl

He's going to be one presence to be aware of definately keep the rest of them on their toes, I just hope as he gets older he doesn't turn into one of those bully cats. Buddy the Bully, in on the prowl.

Re: A full garden atm (kitten update)
Hi Kath,
Donna told me (IIRC) he's one of a litter of four and the main reason she agreed to take him was to socialise him, he was a bully with his litter-mates and aggressive with people. It was only meant to be a temporary arrangement but she decided to keep him, and while he's now fine with people, maybe he still has a tendency to bully other cats.
He's one confident little cat, that's for sure.

At least he's fine with people, he'll meet his match one day if he does turn out to be a bully, thing is there's nothing we can do to change that, it will be his nature.

And here he is atm, fast asleep on the stairs after an exhausting day playing with the fishing rod toy

I nearly broke my neck going downstairs today, the little sod was sprawled out across a stair and I almost didn't spot him. He wasn't about when I went to bed last night so he must have sneaked in later.

Re: A full garden atm (kitten update)
He's a lovely little cat and if he didn't have a home, I'd take him on in a heartbeat. Besides being here all night, he's barely left my garden today, only wandering off to have a snooze in a nearby garden, he's not been home at all as far as I can tell.
I don't understand Donna not fitting a flap, she has at least two dogs, so there'd be no problems with strangers wandering in, at least they'd only do it once. The only good thing is that it's not winter atm, I'd hate to think of him being out at all hours if it was cold and/or wet.

I was right, he wasn't in when I got back from the pub last night but was curled up next to the airing cupboard when I got up today, and loudly demanded breakfast. He ate his then pushed Bola out of the way and finished his
