Carpet scratching........
......namely the staircarpet in my case.
I was woken at 6am by the sound of carpet being scratched, and I would have made less noise taking the carpet up I knew it wasn't Fudge as she was asleep in my bedroom windowsill, but as the flap was open, it could have been any cat, especially Max from next door, he's got a thing for ripping staircarpets.
I got up, went down to the kitchen, but there were no wet paw prints, so that could only mean one thing, it was Bola. He got a good telling off, but I don't think he listened as he just sat there giving me that *it wasn't me, honest* look. The little sod nearly got thro' to the floorboards this time..............I am not happy

Ooooh they drive you insane with that! Luckily that is one thing Prince has never done, but as for my old cat Pebbles! GAH, she was a mentalist when it came to carpets!

Re: Carpet scratching........
I've put a piece of orange peel over the spot, it'll hopefully keep him away for a while.

Ah yes orange peel that might work, he'd soon back off after getting a whiff of that! How can a few seconds of fun for them mean a ruined carpet for us??? Mine give the odd scratch at the corner of a carpet if they want to go through a closed door, but fingers crossed they aren't too bad and the carpets are intact! Let's hope Bola doesn't make a habit of it!

Hi Ceri,
He doesn't make a habit of it, but it's always in the same spot, the very same spot Max chooses to scratch, and it's looking very much worse for wear now.

Re: Carpet scratching........
LOL! Oh I'm sorry, I shouldn't laugh! Mads used to go for the carpet all the time, so we got a cheap rug... now she goes for that instead. Maybe that could work for you? A nicer alternative to the lovely to scratch (and a pain to patch up) stair carpet.

Re: Carpet scratching........
We have laminate flooring but the cats always scratch at the doormats in front of the kitchen and front doors. How about putting a sisal(?) doormat down where he scratches, our lot love this and it's so hard wearing.

Re: Carpet scratching........
Aye... Pok adores the door mat we got going from the kitchen to the living room! Absolutely adores it! Hmmmm... basically he's adored it to bits... lol!
Then again... mine both scratch the carpet in the hallway too. BG never used to, but she sees Pok do it when we play slap the bum, so now she's started too. But I don't care... not our carpets! lol! If it had been at the house on the other hand, it would have been a different story.

Re: Carpet scratching........
Buddy always has a good old scratch on my stair carpet, all in the same place, even though their scratch post is at the bottom of the stairs he alays seems to prefer the carpet. Lukily Mary hasn't attempted it yet.
Re: Carpet scratching........
The orange peel has worked, it hadn't been disturbed from the time I put it down till I replaced it today It's a good job I eat a lot of oranges tho'
