I've just seen a little kitten....

........wandering free, and it looked barely 6 months old, if that.

It had a collar on and seemed to know where it was/where it was going, but it's still too young to be let loose unattended near a road imo. The road isn't busy, busier at weekend true, but still not that bad so maybe that wouldn't be so much of a problem, however the dogs that are let out to roam roam round could be.

It was a lovely little thing, a black and white, mainly white, ball of fluff, that came straight up to me when I called it...................no doubt it's only a matter of time before it discovers my cat flap

Sounds like you may be getting a new visitor Ian, I'm sure he'll hear the word on the street about your lovely home!! As you said though it is a worry for such a small cat to be wandering on his own, especially with dogs around, let's hope he is streetwise and won't come to any harm.

Hope the wee toot doesnt come to any harm, and that it comes to pay a visit at Ians Motel.

I would say odds on, that's another visitor for you Ian. at this rate you are going to have to ask the council for a bigger house.
