BG not feeling well... Empty BG not feeling well...

Post by pokbg Sun Feb 15, 2009 5:24 pm

Hmmm... that's not really true, as she's showed no signs of not feeling well... but she's got problems pee-ing. I think she might possible have an infection. The last 20 minutes, she's gone to her tray 6 times, and only little drops coming out each time... now she's distracted with food... nope - she just left her food and is back in the tray!

What I'm thinking it might be though, is that she's constipated, and the litte drops of wee are just as she's trying to do poopies. Yesterday she got new cat food, as we thought we'd try these new whiskas in jelly that we spotted, so it could be that she's reacting to the food in some way.

Unless she starts improving soon, I'll have to call the vets. Worried about my little girl. Really hope it's just her reacting to the food, as that can so easily be changed, without anything being wrong with her... and she's back in the tray again as I type.

Could be the change in food, it really doesn't take much to knock them, but as you said if she doesn't improve it's a visit to the vets. I don't know if female cats can suffer the same from crystals as males cans do. But to be on the safe side, a visit maybe best. Poor toot, does she look or act as though she's in pain? hard to tell sometimes. She'll be wanting extra cuddles if she's poorly.

She's actually completely fine apart from the loo going... and I'm now certain she's constipated, as she tries to go with her bum in the air (bum in air = poopies, bum in the litter = pee-pees). She's still the same little angel as always, and a right pain if anyone goes to the kitchen (as she's certain it's goodies on offer as soon as someone goes there).

Unless she goes tonight we'll have to see if we can get some laxatives with the vet tomorrow.

Aww poor BG hope she is feeling better. If she is constipated it must cause her some discomfort, but lots of cuddles will help her feel better.

I think this a gene in most cats, drives you crazy. LOL Glad she's still a happy little angel, laxatives it is, don't envy you the tray to clean afterwards. LOL

Oh I know... lol! I'm hoping she'll go by her own accord today/tonight though, so she doesn't have to take anything. She's stopped running to the tray now, and is having a snooze in her basket.

Hmmm, keep a very close eye, if it is that she's having problems peeing, get her to the vets ASAP! Female cats can suffer from crystals (Thats the problem Mads has and why she's on the CD diet as without crystals start forming again). Its much more likely that crystals will block a male cat as the narrowing to the urethra narrows, but still can happen in a female cat. If she starts meowing when she goes to the litter tray, showing any signs of distress, has a temp, or if there's any blood in the urine (another sign of crystals) then take her to the vets straight away, make an appointment with the emergency vet if neccesary, as if she can't pee it can get very serious quickly. In fact, have a feel of her tummy for her bladder and if you can feel it then she's not emptying it, so get her to the vets if this is the case. I'm hoping she's constipated, can you give her a little bit of glycerine to lubricate and get things moving? Give your princess a big hug from me.

Thank you for your messages, Helen - only spotted them now!

She's actually fine, apart from not having doen a poops. She's stopped running to the loo like she did earlier today, and she has been to do pees since. So I'm pretty certain it's nothing wrong in that area (no pain, no blood, just normal wee), but she still hasn't been to do poops.

She's fine in herself... begging for the laser light, talking like she normally does (she's doing a sing-song right now), and generally being all loveing a sweet as usual.

Partner will check litter trays tomorrow morning (he's up at 6), and if still no poopies, we'll have to get some laxatives for her. 'fraid we don't have anythign here that I would dare to give her... so it will just be a waiting game until tomorrow.

Awwwww bless her poor bg!

when I had the kittens they were all constipated (it was to do with them having powder cat milk and not milk from mum) anyway we went to the vets with them and the vet told me to get some normal laxatives from the chemist (i.e. laxatives us humans would use) as it is so much cheaper than getting it off the vet and it's exactly the same thing.

I think the name of it was lactol.

hope poor bg feels better soon xx

Thank you for the tip, Nicola!

Well... BG still hasn't been to do poopies. Nor has she tried to do poopies (she has however done another wee last night... Pok never use her little tray, so we know it's her)... so it looks like it will have to be laxatives. Partner is back at noon, before heading off again at 2:30, so we'll pop out then.

If you get the lactol laxative it's a liquid so you can just mix it in with her food.

BG is as always a little darling... but she's still not done poopies! Partner asked the pharmasist, and they suggested Lactulose... but of course she's refusing any food with it in it.

She's perfectly fine apart from not doing poops though. Still eats like a horse, pees like a horse, and is much more loving then a horse! lol! Hour ago she was fighting with her brother in the courtyard, and now she's begging the kid for goodies in the kitchen.

lol! No accidentsa in the car... they'd both gone before the ride up... however Pok was howling all the way until he recogniced the town, and then he started chirping. lol!

Of course then it was the howling all the way down too... and blessed Pokie had needed the loo (he was on my lap on his leash, as there wasn't room for both the carriers with the kid coming with us)... he ran straigt to it as soon as we got in. Good boy for not peeing on me.

BGs tummy has been fine since she went again, no problems, she's back to pooping once a day.
