Re: Yet *another* visitor........
Eeeeeeeeeek! What a beauty!!!! I'm normally quite good at spotting if a cat is male or female.... but here I cannot tell. Beautiful female face, but the kitty looks fairly big.
Absolutely gorgeous anyway... but I think your cat hotel might start to get full already. ROFL!

Re: Yet *another* visitor........
Hi pokbg,
It looks like a she to me, and you're spot on, she's a lovely looking cat, tho' being a semi long hair, her size is deceptive. You can't see them, but (not the paws) she has very distinctive white patches on the lower part of both front legs.
I'm pretty sure she lives right across the road from me, I saw her nipping up the side of a house and jumped over a gate there earlier.

She is gorgeous. Love the fluffy tail, looks as though she has a moustach to.
Re: Yet *another* visitor........
Just caught this cat peeping thro' the flap and managed to get a good look this time. Facially at least, it looks more like a tom than I thought before, but he/she legged it again when I went outside.
I can't believe all the local cats go round looking for cat flaps, they *must* tell each other where they are somehow

Re: Yet *another* visitor........
I must see a *new* cat once or twice a week round here, hardly surprising considering the amount of houses, the number must run into hundreds within easy walking distance for a cat.maddymoo wrote:LOL! I just can't believe how many cats are in your neighbourhood! LOL!

Re: Yet *another* visitor........
I saw a lot of this cat in my garden yesterday, tho' I've never caught her peeping thro' the flap again and she legged it pronto each time I went out to call her. I think a lot of the attraction of my garden is the food I throw out that my ungateful lot decide they no longer like. I'm pretty sure the house across from me must have two cats as I saw her and another jet black cat sat together at the front door this morning when I opened the curtains.

Re: Yet *another* visitor........
ROFL! Yes, I put out the dry food that the babies don't like anymore... but for some reason the food they refuse to eat inside somehow completely change in taste as soon as it's in the bowl outside, as they'll both gbble it down then.Ian B wrote:I think a lot of the attraction of my garden is the food I throw out that my ungateful lot decide they no longer like.
Re: Yet *another* visitor........
Yep, same here, food they don't like inside suddenly taste great when eaten alfresco, even wet food, and the wetter the grass, the better wet food seems to tastepokbg wrote:ROFL! Re: Yet *another* visitor........
I caught her in the kitchen about an hour ago, tucking into some food Bola had left and she wasn't in that much of a rush to leave even after seeing me She hardly made a sound with the flap when going and must have made even less coming in, so she's mastered the art of sneaking in peoples houses. I got proof of that a little later as she tried to come in while I was doing some washing up, and she almost made it, even tho' she must have known I was there as I was calling her and she couldn't have missed seeing my moving about.
I can't be 100% sure, but I don't think they have a cat flap at her home, at least I generally see her and their other cat sat at the front of the house. Bola seems really taken with her unfortunately, he runs to say hello every time he sees her now and certainly doesn't mind her coming in, so it looks like another regular visitor.

Re: Yet *another* visitor........
It seems I may have been wrong, this cat is more likely a tom, at least going by the calling card (spraying) left on my door. Fudge wouldn't use the flap to come in last night, in fact she refused to even cross the step when I opened the door, the smell must have been that strong I had to pick her up and carry her in.
Not only that, but this cat was still trying to come in after midnight and was there in my garden this morning when I let Bola out just before 6am Hmmmm, I may have to keep the flap locked all day for a while and resort to leaving some of my *special formula* treats near the door to deter it.

Re: Yet *another* visitor........
Uh-oh... another spraying tom must be the last thing on your wishlist... hopefully it will get the drift and stop calling by.
Re: Yet *another* visitor........
I can only hope so pokbg, but it'll probably take a while.pokbg wrote:Uh-oh... another spraying tom must be the last thing on your wishlist... hopefully it will get the drift and stop calling by.
I found another complete stranger in my garden just before I went to the pub last night, yet another black and white cat who was busy sniffing the grass looking for some food I'd thrown onto the lawn. It's no wonder my garden is so attractive to cats if they think/know there'll be something for them to eat, I'm going to have to start flushing any left over/unwanted food down the loo again.

Re: Yet *another* visitor........
True, but what gets me is my lot will eat the same food I throw out that they refused to eat inside.............especially Bola, he drives me up the wall at times. I reckon food manufacturers should start adding grass to their recipesmaddymoo wrote:Oh dear... yes, free left overs are definately an attraction to the kitties! LOL! And here he is again, tucking into some food my lot refused to eat, tho' Bola wandered over to make sure he really didn't want it He came within a foot or so of me today and he's a proper scruffy article who needs a good grooming as he's moulting like crazy.

Re: Yet *another* visitor........
He's gorgeous mind! lol. Now that I see his properly, it is a little more mascilinated (?sp is that even a word? lol), but still could go either way as male or female, in that piccy he does look like a bit of a mischievious lad! Oh I like him, I do! But still if he's gunna spray, you deffo don't want him in the house.

Re: Yet *another* visitor........
I managed to have a word with with who I thought owned this cat, and I was right, both cats live in the house directly across the road from me. I told her if they ever seem to be off their food at home, it's probably because they've discovered my cat flap and sneak in to steal food here............she couldn't have been more apologetic/embarrassed, tho' it isn't her fault, it's cats we were talking about after all

Re: Yet *another* visitor........
I had another complete stranger in my garden earlier this afternoon, confident enough to spray in every corner (and then some) while I was stood at the door with Fudge, before he just ambled away. I guess it won't be long before he sees the flap in use either

Re: Yet *another* visitor........
It looks like my having a word has *worked*. I've not seen either cat for 4 days now, tho' I hope she's not keeping them in because they're stealing food here, both are very much outdoor cats.Ian B wrote:I managed to have a word with with who I thought owned this cat, and I was right, both cats live in the house directly across the road from me.
