Left/right handed cats?
Hi All,
After watching GT trying to open doors with his left paw, a near impossibility, while all the others use their right paws, I couldn't help wondering if cats can be left or right handed as we are? This would certainly explain why he can't do it.

What does he do, hook his paw around the door? I only ask as Percy will open doors by pushing with both paws. I've never seen him open doors with one.

The others hook their right paws round the door to pull it open, but GT always uses his left and it simply can't be done. This is going out only obviously, coming in he just pushes at it with whatevers nearest, his nose or a paw

Good questions, but one I can't answer, haven't a clue, but what I've noticed is that neither of my two will open a door, if it's open just enough for thenm to squeeze through that's ok, but if it's just ajar, they both sit there with their head all the way back trying to catch my eye, so that I'll open it for them

Re: Left/right handed cats?
Hmmmm... I'm pretty certain Pok is right-pawed. He used his right paw much more then his left. And he'll always eat with his right (he likes to pick up pieces with his paw and nibble on them... very posh! lol!), but used both as much during play.
BG I wouldn't have a clue... she doesn't try to open anything, or eat with the help of her paws, and she used both the same when she plays.
