GT, he's back....but......
He finally came back at just before 3.30 this afternoon, finished a bowl of food in the living room, then followed me into the kitchen where I gave him a couple of raw chicken wings. I left him to it and went back, but I'd hardly sat down when I heard a commotion in the kitchen, with GT giving some serious growling.
I got up to check, only to find that thieving ginger and white tom from two doors away had sneaked in and was intent on getting the wings off GT, who was trying to eat them as fast as possible to stop him. The ginger and white tom bolted thro' the flap as soon as he saw me, and I thought that was it, but then I saw GT coughing a bit and pawing at his mouth. He wasn't choking as such, he could still breathe ok, but he too bolted thro' the flap when I approached him.
I nipped outside and saw him sat at the side of my house, still pawing at his mouth, but he ran again as I got close, right across the road and out of sight this time. I'm hoping he's somehow just got a bit of bone stuck in his teeth, but I won't know, or relax, till I see him again.

Oh it's so frigthening when something happen... and especially like with you now.. you know something wasn;t right and he's dissappeared out of your sight... Hopefully by now he's come back and you know he's ok! Hurry back GT, so your daddy won't worry about you!
Re: GT, he's back....but......
I'm pretty confident he'll be ok, there was no out and out panic, which there surely would have been if he was really choking. On the downside, if he's got a bit of bone stuck in his teeth there's the chance he'll cut the inside of his mouth before it comes free.

Oh no, what a worry for you. I hope he comes back soon so you can check him over. Poor GT and poor you! Your lot certainly keep you on your toes. I've got my fingers crossed it not serious and he'll be ok.

Re: GT, he's back....but......
That's the catch, I'm seeing less and less of him now the weather's turned milder/drier, I think today was the first time I've seen him since Monday, so it may be a while before he calls again.maddymoo wrote:Oh no, what a worry for you. One things for sure tho', I'd much rather take a thorn out of a lions paw than try and take a stuck bone out of GT's mouth

Re: GT, he's back....but......
He was in as I was going to bed, looking a bit sorry for himself tho', and asked for food but couldn't finish a bit of cooked ham. I'm not sure, but there *seemed* to be a bit of blood round his mouth, so it looks like he got some bone stuck and it cut his mouth before it came free, or perhaps he broke a tooth? The latter is unlikely, but he's no spring chicken and perhaps his teeth aren't 100%.
He'd gone this morning when I got up so I won't be able to check till he calls again.

Re: GT, he's back....but......
Poor little GT... I do so hope it's just a little cut and not a problem with a tooth. Atleast if it's just a cut it will hopefully heal quickly with no problems... and hope the handsome boy comes home again soon, so you can put your mind to rest atleast.
Re: GT, he's back....but......
And still no sign of him
I'm used to him disappearing like this, and if it wasn't for the episode with the chicken bone I wouldn't be that concerned, but I'd like to know he's ok.
I'm hoping, if there is anything wrong and he does have a real home, he's gone back and they've seen it and taken him to the vet........but I reckon that's wishful thinking considering the general state of him at times.

He's as tough as old boots Nicki, and if anything was seriously wrong he would surely have come back here at some point, if only to sleep. It's the not knowing I don't like.*Prince* wrote:Crossing everything that GT will turn up soon Ian. Cant bear to think of him being in a bad way, and not having you around him.

Re: GT, he's back....but......
Still no sign of him, it must be approaching 72 hours now, the longest he's been *missing*.........for a good few months anyway. He's got what you might describe as a healthy appetite, so assuming he can eat, he must be getting food elsewhere as there's no way he'd go without food for this long thro' choice.
'EDIT'
I'll be out for a few hours later and have stopped leaving food down while I'm gone as it's getting *stolen* too often, so I just hope he doesn't come back hungry while I'm not here.

Re: GT, he's back....but......
(((((hugs))))) I'm sure he's absolutely fine... and as he's been doing the dissappearing act a few times now, atleast you know it's not due to this incident, but it is of course much more worrying now due to it.
Come home soon GT - so we can all put our minds to rest!

Re: GT, he's back....but......
I got back from the pub about an hour ago, checked all round the house but still no sign of him then put my dinner on................
........I had chicken and chips (no, not in a basket for those old enough to remember that ) sat there in my chair, I looked up and there he was, sat at my feet I threw him some chicken, a bit risky considering, but he tucked in merrily..........but when I got up he legged it.................
He behaved exactly how he used to when he first started coming in, ie he wanted to stay but didn't know me so he backed away towards the flap. Stupid me, I followed him and we'd no sooner got into the kitchen than he was out of the flap.
He looks fine, no problems with his mouth that I could tell, and I'll forgive him backing away from me like that because I'm so relieved to see he's still fit and well.

Yeay! Oh that is fantastic news Ian, he sounds well enough to me! LOL! Its so funny how easily their routines get unsettled, no doubt when it gets colder and he starts spending more time round yours again, he'll turn back into a snuggle bunny! lol

Re: GT, he's back....but......
After his reappearance yesterday, I fully expected to find him on top of the set of drawers in the hall this morning, but no.
Maybe the chicken bone episode means he now associates eating here with a sore mouth? Very unlikely I know, but *something* has definitey changed with him.

I'm hoping he's gone *home* and if he has, without meaning to brag, he's gone back in a lot better condition than when he left to come here. If that's the case, with a bit of luck his real owners have taken the hint and started to look after him properly.

Re: GT, he's back....but......
He came strolling in just after 4pm and asked for food, he ate his, then what Bola left, then asked for more He didn't run after eating this time either, he's still sat in the kitchen, probably a bit too bloated to run atm
