hahaha not comfy for you, but must have been for her. They do seem comfortable in the most unlikely spots.

She's now back under the fir tree, no doubt she won't come in again unless it's for food till I bring her in last thing tonight.

Re: Fudge, more progress
It's been murky and a bit chilly so far today, she's only moved twice, once to the other side of the garden and the second to finally chase Jimmy again.
If he thought she'd got fed up of chasing him, and she has been less bothered by him being near her, she's just proved us both wrong big style
I heard the flap crash open as I was watching tv, caught sight of Jimmy haring past the open living room door, followed by Fudge a second or two later. Normally I'd get up to rescue him, but I was so pleased to see her like this again I left them to it She followed him upstairs, then what sounded like a lap of my and the spare bedroom then back downstairs and crashed back thro' the flap.
It seems she chased him up the side of my house as I saw her coming back as I went out to check. Her fur was all puffed up and she had a "I'll 'ave him next time" look on her face She's now curled up asleep under the fir tree again.

Re: Fudge, more progress
I don't know what the hell is wrong with her
She finally left the fir tree to sit on a wheelie bin, both of which are right near the back door, which was a start as she's not done that for a good few days now, then miaowed at me when I opened the door. She jumped down, got as far as the doorstep then turned round and headed for the front door where she sat miaowing to come in when I followed.
I picked her up, and as has been usual for a few days, she didn't purr as I carried her upstairs to the spare bedroom, normally she purrs like a train as soon as I pick her up. I'd put a new box down, just for her, but she wasn't interested and instead jumped onto the windowsill. I left her there hoping she'd go to sleep but was barely halfway downstairs when I heard her jump down and 5 minutes later found her on the landing windowsill.
Again I hoped she'd go to sleep but as soon as she heard me playing with Dexter on the stairs she jumped down and headed towards the kitchen. I haven't heard the flap go so she might still be in there, but I doubt it.
Something has clearly happened in the house which has really upset her, but I've no idea what, and as she's behaving normally with the others I can't see them being involved. This is a total mystery

Re: Fudge, more progress
If only they could talk, all you can do is hope she'll settle back down again and forget whatever it is that's bothering her. Something didn't happen with the wworkmen did it? maybe she doesn't like your new fireplace. Cats are funny creatures, the things we don't think twice about can really upset them.

Re: Fudge, more progress
Hi Kath,
It's not the workemen, she was fine after they'd gone, but *something* in the house is bothering her. It's almost as if she's ok as long as I'm nearby, but as soon as I'm out of sight that's it, she's thro' the flap. She's back under the fir tree again now.

True enough, all I can do is keep bringing her in and hope she settles down. It's odd, barring last night, she's been happy to stay in overnight but not during the day

I do hope you manage to gently return her to her old ways, even if you never get to figure out the reason for her change in behaviour.

Re: Fudge, more progress
I had to carry her in again last night, but at least she stayed in...............and slept on my pc desk again. The others *know* they're not allowed up there, but as she's so nervous about being inside atm I'll let her sleep there if she wants.Ian B wrote:She finally settled down in the least comfortable/roomy spot there, on my pc desk scrunched up between the monitor and a music keyboard, and she was still there thiis morning

Mid yawn this morning
After I switched my pc on
Thankfully, a minute or so later she finally discovered the new box I'd put down in my bedroom just for her. She's now curled up fast asleep in this box

I'll probably never find out the reason, it's just a matter of being patient till she comes round to thinking it's ok to be inside again.

Re: Fudge, more progress
Oh she's such a darling cat, so beautiful. Poor fudge I do hope she settles down and gets comfortable with being inside again, she's just too old to be outside all the time.
Isn't it funny how when they're ill or upset, we let them do things we wouldn't normally allow.

Re: Fudge, more progress
Morning Kath,
It's lovely outside atm and she's happily asleep in the box when she should be out, yet was just as happy being outside when it was damp and chilly
She's got no bad habits in the house, unlike the others so she can sleep where she wants......for the time being anyway

She's back under the fir tree now, still, at least she now knows there's a place in the house she can get some peace and quiet as the others seldom venture into my bedroom during the day............unless they're hungry and letting me know

Re: Fudge, more progress
I finally managed to persuade her to come in without being carried earlier tho' she refused to go further than the kitchen till I bribed her with food. She normally likes to eat on top of a chest freezer under the stairs, but it took a bit of encouragement to get her up there this time, even with food.
She didn't stay long before jumping down and going back out, tho' that could have been down to Bola sitting there trying to stare the food towards him. She's been following the sun, such as it's been, all afternoon, at one point sitting on a neighbours fence to catch-the-rays, and for all something is bothering her in the house, seems fine otherwise.
Here's hoping the kitchen visit is just a start.

Re: Fudge, more progress
I brought her in and put her in the box in my bedroom around 7pm yesterday, amazingly she stayed and is still there now, tho' she did jump out and onto me for 10 minutes after I'd gone to bed, but she's one comfortable cat in her new box

Ah hahaha well hopefully now she knows it's there she'll come in at night and sleep there. She never ventures far though does she? so even if she doesn't come in you know she's ok.

Yeah, hopefully she'll come in by herself now she knows the box is there, but I'll still bring her in if she's still reluctant. Beyond the odd rolling about on the road she almost never goes beyond my and next doors garden.
