Swap places (strange Fudge again)
After Fudge refusing to come into the living room yesterday, probably because she was sick on the windowsill (she sleeps there when not on my recliner) she moved back to sleeping on top of my microwave.
All well and good, but that's were Jimmy sleeps when he sneaks in here, so he was a bit put out at finding her there yesterday, but what did I find today when I opened the living room curtains? None other than Jimmy fast asleep on the windowsill

It was funny watching Jimmy getting ready to jump up to the microwave, then he spotted a bit of ginger fur and changed his mind

Re: Swap places (strange Fudge again)
She was at it again last night, refusing to come into the house
I found her sat on the doorstep in the pouring rain so she was totally drenched, picked her up and carried her to the sofa so she could sit on my knee. That lasted for all of 10 seconds before she was on the floor and bolted for the flap, but this time wasn't happy sat on the step, she settled down on the lawn in the still pouring grain and didn't even attempt to shelter under my fir tree as I'd expected.
I kept nipping out to get her but every time I got close she moved out of reach and in the end I had to leave her and hope she'd come in by herself. I didn't hear her do so but as I was going to bed I spotted a patch of ginger fur wedged between a shoe stand and a set of drawers in the hall. I put food and water down before I went to bed and half expected her to bolt again as I did, she didn't and as this pic was taken today she must have stayed there all night (and still is atm)
I've never known a cat to have such extreme mood swings/reactions to things I know nothing about and after all the time she's been here I guess I should be used to it by now but I'm not. I'd love to know what goes on in her head that'd explain this genuinely bizarre behaviour.

Re: Swap places (strange Fudge again)
Oh the things that go on in their little minds that we have no access to and no way of knowing or understanding. That is one of the many mysteries of cats and no matter how much we work at it, or far in tune with them we can get, there will always be much more that remains out of our reach. She does look sweet though - all squashed into the tiniest of spaces.

Re: Swap places (strange Fudge again)
She was comfy enough to stay there all night Joanne, but why she was so scared of coming into the house (again) I can only guess at

Re: Swap places (strange Fudge again)
She stayed wedged in that spot, only moving slightly to get at food and water, till 3pm then she went out. I'd hoped she'd have forgotten about whatever's *happened* but no, it was exactly the same scenario in my back garden again, sitting in the rain and running off when I got near her
Strangely, she came in thro' the front door with no trouble about 25 minutes ago, and I'm starting to wonder if her seeing the mystery kitten pawing madly at the flap has anything to do with it, well that and Stripey/Pablo also coing and going as they want. Maybe she's just put out with all this activity?

Re: Swap places (strange Fudge again)
She's sat on the back doorstep (in the rain) atm, refusing to come in again but even worse. she's sat right in front of the flap stopping the rest going out/coming in unless I'm there to open the door. I'm sure she's doing this on purpose

Re: Swap places (strange Fudge again)
Yes she probably is.
Could be there is just too many cats, too mcuh activity for her these days, maybe she just wants some quiet without any disturbance.

Re: Swap places (strange Fudge again)
She finally used the flap to come in out of the rain last night and I caught sight of her trotting past the living room door towards her new fav spot, scrunched up between the shoe stand and set of drawers in the hall, so I thought all was well.
It wasn't, as a few seconds later I saw her heading back to the kitchen followed by a loud thump which I assumed was her going back out thro' the flap. She hadn't as I found her on top of the microwave *again* where it seems she spent the night as she was still there this morning.
There was a funny side to this as on the microwave she could see everything in the kitchen at floor level, and there was Jimmy, curled up in *his* box next to the radiator. He kept peeping over the edge to see if she'd seen him but if she had she thankfully ignored him.

Re: Swap places (strange Fudge again)
She's still on the microwave even tho' it's on to of the washing machine which is currently in full swing, it must be like a massage for her This machine is direct drive and so relatively quiet/vibration free, she certainly wouldn't have done this with the old one
'EDIT'
I've just used the microwave and she couldn't get off it fast enough

Re: Swap places (strange Fudge again)
She went out at 1am last night, after being a bit bothered by a visit from a very noisy Pablo (tho' she gave as good as she got in the hissing and spitting stakes) but considering the weather overnight I expected to find her back in her box today. She wasn't, she's sat on the back doorstep (wet thro' and no doubt frozen to the marrow) refusing to come in again

Re: Swap places (strange Fudge again)
I've just brought her in and she's in her box having brekkie, tho' nervously looking round the kitchen from time to time, so it would appear Pablos performance last night really got to her.

Re: Swap places (strange Fudge again)
Poor Fudge, does seem as though she just does not need any aggro/upset. Could be too much male testosterone hanging around.

Re: Swap places (strange Fudge again)
Yeah, she'd much prefer a quieter life and there's lots of places she could get just that, but this time she had to pick the box in the kitchen where there's the most activity.

She's now given up on being at ground level in the box and moved back on top of the microwave

Re: Swap places (strange Fudge again)
Since knocking over some cat milk in her box and waking up wet thro' on one side she's all but given up on this box and now sleeps on a mat near the back door.
There's plenty of room for her, but she has to sleep/sit right in front of the flap so stopping the others using it and lets me know she's getting fed up of my moving her by opening the door to let the rest in/out

So who rules your roost in your opinion? Would seem to be that Fudge is very much in charge - despite her small stature.

Hi Joanne,
For all her preferred solitude, Fudge is top-cat here and isn't shy at letting the others know

Re: Swap places (strange Fudge again)
I caught her asleep in the bathroom this afternoon, probably the best spot in the house to be alone tbh, with the added bonus of being able to curl up right next to a radiator
