Re: *Bobcat* update
I haven't seen much of him today, perhaps it's sinking in that he'll not get fed here now.......well, beyond a bit of cooked meat, I can't treat my lot and leave him out can I?

Re: *Bobcat* update
You certainly can't if feline diabetes is similar to human diabetes a bit of meat won't harm him, it would be carbs you would need to watch out for like bidcuits and dry food.

Re: *Bobcat* update
A quick google suggests dealing with a diabetic cat can be tricky, and you're right in saying dry food is a no-no Kath, so it's just as well he hasn't found the dry I leave on the living room windowsill nor ventured upstairs to find that I leave on my bed. I had been leaving a bowl of dry on the dining table for Stripey but I've had to move it onto his chair so Bobcat can't get at it, but the downside is Stripey knocks it all over the place with all his rolling about
A bit of cooked meat (usually chicken or turkey) will do no harm and that's all he gets here now, tho' I'll probably have to keep the catnip drops I bought as a treat for my lot out of Bobcats reach, which is a shame as he loves catnip.

Re: *Bobcat* update
Give him catnip toys, or if you have a planyt of it a leaf will do. Moto loves the leaves from the one I have, but I limit him, he gets too carried away with it.

Re: *Bobcat* update
I've not seen him since Friday, hopefully this just means they've kept him in at home over the weekend, tho' it's about this time of day he's been appearing during the week and he does like his freedom so I'm half expecting a visy shortly.

Re: *Bobcat* update
He finally turned up at 8pm last night had a bit of cooked chicken, a quick tour of downstairs then disappeared. Him liking chicken has come as a surprise as his owner told me when she phoned that he doesn't like it at home, yet given the chance he'd eat as much as I'd give him here.

Good to know he's back and well, as for the chicken, well how typical is that of a cat?

Re: *Bobcat* update
I caught him tucking into the dry food on the livingroom windowsill early yesterday evening and he wasn't impressed when I took it off him, but for health reasons I had to. He turned up again just before I went to bed, had a bit of cooked chicken and was hanging about in my garden as I went upstairs. Going by the amount of dry food left in the bowl today it doesn't look like he sneaked in again overnight.

Re: *Bobcat* update
Yesterday I found a non plastic bag way of stopping him coming in, just stand at the living room windows cleaning them. He sat at the bottom of the garden wondering what the hell I was doing for a while before going home

Re: *Bobcat* update
He managed to sneak in unseen last night and found the dry food on the living room windowsill, a big no-no as he's diabetic. He's either the most dainty eater ever or he was trying his best not to be heard crunching on the biscuits as with the curtains being closed I almost missed him. He's definitely not happy about having food taken away from him tho'

Re: *Bobcat* update
He turned up at 8pm last night, no big surprise there, but he was minus his new-ish collar and ID tag. It hadn't been gone long as you could still see where it had been in his fur but it was too dark to check my garden for it.
He didn't stay long and I assumed he'd gone home but I found him downstairs when I got up today, worse still, the dry food bowl on the living room windowsill was half empty after being refilled late last night. Max could well have eaten some, if not all, as he stays there at night, but I hope it wasn't Bobcat as he's diabetic and ordinary dry food is a no-no for him.
He took a bit of chasing out with a plastic bag, I hate doing that as they really scare him........tho' not enough to stop him coming back

Funny how the things that scare them are never a deterrent to them. He'll be back.

Re: *Bobcat* update
It looks like he was here all night as he was sat outside when I let Stripey out at 11.30pm and I found him sat in the hall at 6am today. Just to be on the safe side I moved the bowl of dry off the living room windowsill before going to bed which meant poor Max had to go without his midnight feast, so it's no wonder he was really begging for brekkie today

Re: *Bobcat* update
I never thought, but as Max sleeps on the sofa at night I could have put it on there with him, especially as Bobcat seems very wary about jumping onto chairs here,

Re: *Bobcat* update
Hmmm, I've just been outside shouting for Stripey and spotted Bobcat sat on a neighbours fence. I came back in and expected Bobcat to invite himself in as usual, but not today, so it looks like he's gone back home No bad thing tbh, as he's diabetic coming in and eating dry food here will do him no good at all, but I was surprised not to see him inside.

Re: *Bobcat* update
His owner complained that he was being sick at home after eating here, not nice for them, and it's just happened here after he ate a bit of cooked turkey. He brought a damn sight more back than he'd eaten as well

mmmmmmmmm wonder if he could also be visiting other hiomes and eating whatever there, seems a bit harsh for your neighbour to say he's being sick after visiting you.

Re: *Bobcat* update
He could well be getting food elsewhere but was so nervous of me for ages I doubt it. He'd sit on the fence watching my lot/me playing with them in the garden but would run a mile as soon as I headed towards him so I was amazed when he finally wandered in thro' the flap.Teddy wrote:mmmmmmmmm wonder if he could also be visiting other hiomes and eating whatever there, seems a bit harsh for your neighbour to say he's being sick after visiting you.
Not really harsh, I told her I thought he may be lost when he first appeared, then kept coming back and I'd done what I always do in that situation, make sure they get food just in case. As he's so old at 16 and diabetic as well, I don't blame them for wanting to be careful over what he eats, tho' letting him wander so much can't help.

No it can't, but what do you do, keep him in? think he would hate that if he's so used to getting his freedom.
