Re: *Bobcat* update
He was late arriving today, not till just before lunch and didn't invite himself in as usual. Perhaps he now links coming here and eating then throwing up?

Re: *Bobcat* update
He was nowhere in sight when I went to bed last night but was curled up fast asleep on the dining table when I got up today, and by the looks of things had filled his face on food I'd left there for Stripey if he came in. No doubt Bobcat will be throwing up at home atm

I've not seen him since Friday morning and this is very, very unusual, I hope the old lad is ok.

Re: *Bobcat* update
As he was around first thing I'm assuming he'd been out all night, and for all he tried to start a fight earlier, he doesn't seem well today. He wasn't interested in a bit of cooked turkey at first, tho' is trying again atm, but he just sat there as I got the plastic bag the turkey was in out of the fridge, when he'd normally bolt at the slightest rustle of a plastic bag.
He's both looking and feeling very, very thin as well (imo) tho' this could be down to me being used to my lot being porkers, but he's more subdued than usual as well today and hasn't purred when I've stroked him.

Re: *Bobcat* update
Oh poor Bobcat, just hope it's an off day he's having and there isn't anything awful wrong with him, it's times like this when I wish they could talk.

Could be that the diabetes isn't controlled right today, tomorrow she could be fine again.

Re: *Bobcat* update
His eyes are bright and he's sat next to the flap and interested in what's going on outside, but something just doesn't *feel* right about him today. He didn't finish all the turkey off either.
Yep, it could easily be his diabetes acting up, especially if he was out all night.

Re: *Bobcat* update
No sign of him since this morning, hopefully he's just at home chilling out.
I can't get over how painfully thin he is now, but his longish fur hides it pretty well, tho' if I've noticed, surely his owners must have?

Re: *Bobcat* update
I thought he was a she? you have so many cats visiting you I can get so confused, it's an age thing.
Just hope the owners realise how thin the poor thing is getting. It's easy to *not see* when they're with you evey day.

Re: *Bobcat* update
He's definitely a tom Kath.
It could well be he's naturally thin, I know, for all they eat here and at home, both Jimmy and Dexter are real featherweights compared to my lot, tho' neither are as boney as Bobcat. Like you say, it's easy to not notice something when you see it every day, but I'd hope his owners are aware of how thin he's become.

I sure hope so, maybe if you see them, mention it in a casual way. Nothing you can do though, just watch out for him, which you do anyway.

He's just turned up and is tucking into a bit of cooked turkey in the kitchen, he looks and sounds happy enough but I don't really like stroking him now because he's so thin

Re: *Bobcat* update
No sign of him for 3 days now, I'm hoping it's because his owners were keeping him in as the kids were off school and not because he's ill, tho' there's no doubt his weight loss suggests all is not right with him atm

Re: *Bobcat* update
No doesn't look good, why would he be kept in because the kids were off school? think maybe that's you wishfully thinking Ian. Could be this is a case of wait and see, nothing to say he won't suddenly just appear, now I'm wishfully thinking.

Re: *Bobcat* update
Hi Kath,
I was thinking if the kids were at home to let him in and out, he perhaps wouldn't need to wander over here so much.

Re: *Bobcat* update
It's nearly two weeks since I last saw him, he's either got fed up of coming once he realised he'd only get the odd treat instead of a full meal, or the worst has happened. After seeing how much weight he'd lost I think the latter is more likely as he'd surely still visit every now and then if he could

Re: *Bobcat* update
I can't see any other reason for him stopping calling here Kath, with his diabetes and being so old I guess his days were numbered. If he has gone, hopefully he was pts without any suffering

Re: *Bobcat* update
Without knocking on their door and asking, or leaving a note asking them to let me know, I guess I'll never find out. 16yo isn't a bad age for a cat, especially one with diabetes.

Re: *Bobcat* update
It's something to mention if you ever see them out and about but that's really the only way we'll find out. 16 is a good age, wonder how long he had diabetes, that may have been quite recent.

I wouldn't know his owners if they were stood next to me Kath. They live on the next road, about 30 seconds away if I took the same shortcut Bobcat used thro' my loony neighbours garden, but a few minutes walk using the footpath.
